Hi,

For the last two days our BW System experiencing very slow performance. the reports which were running for 1 or 2 min previously now taking 15 to 20 min and sometimes system showing timeout Error. we could not able to identify the exact problem. In bw statistics DB Time showing 98 to 99% of total time.we are using bw 3.5 version. It would be higly appreciated if anybody through some light on this issue.

Hi Umakanth.

Is the performance problem for the whole system or only some specific infoproviders?

Did you try to refresh the DB statistics for the infocubes?

Please also check that your tablespaces are not running full in DB02.

Hope it helps.

Actually there is no backround jobs Problem since we killed all jobs and tried out but there is no improvment.and I Checked with basis team as there is not table space problem.

and the problem is Pertaining to whole system not any info area.

Hi Umakanth.

You do this by right clicking on the cube -> manage -> performance tab -> refresh statistics.

I would recommend that you schedule this daily or weekly through a process chain.

You could also check the CPU utilization and free memory in transaction ST06.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

You can check SM50 and see wat is the status of the background and Dialog processes.

If some dialog or backgroud processes get stopped then also the system becomes slow.

You can also check out background jobs in sm37 and check whether the jobs get stuck at particular step where there are many paralllel processes running.

You can take the help of the BASIS team for analysing the performance of the system.
