Create shortcut and run BI Frontend tools without Backend installation

I have new machine, I want to install BI 7.0 frontend only. Is it possible to run BI frontend (Bex Analyser, WAD, Web Analyser) without installing Backend. Using start menu, I am trying to create shortcut for BI front end tools on the desktop. which is asking for system information. but it doesn't give any popup for to enter system information. Where and How to enter system information ?

    Hi,

you need to configure and perhaps install the SAPLogon module; this is where you will declare your systems to be used in the BI Frontend tools...

Obviously you'll need to a BI/BW system somewhere to connect to otherwise it doens't make to have these tools installed on your machine....

    hope this helps...

    Olivier.

I am not sure if i get your qustion properly, when you say Back end ,you mean BW system??

You need BW system some where on this planet for your front end to work, its not imperative to have BW box on to your desktop.

Front end-Bex talks to BW and for that BW needs to be installed somewhere ,you can connect to BW box from anywhere with front end using local network where the BW system is installed or remote access or portal.

      Hope it Helps
