Dear All,
One of our user (warehouse dept) asks me about buffer stock in SAP B1. I have tried to find it or a work around but still fails. How to define or set a buffer stock of items in SAP B1 ? Every items will have different buffer stock. Please let me know. Thanks
Rgd,
John
Hi,
Buffer stock definition:
Stock held to reduce the negative effects (stock-out costs) of an unusually large usage of stock.
I suggest you to create a buffer stock warehouse if you want to sell the buffer stock if available stock or minimum stock is not enough to fill the sales order.
If you use minimum stock, it means you can't issue the minimum stock available to customer. I suggest create buffer stock warehouse because I assume you also want that buffer stock can be issued, but if not, you disregard my suggestion and just use what other has suggested

John,
In the Item Master > Inventory Data tab you have to make the settings for Inventory Levels.
Read notes below
Inventory Level:
Required (Purchase UoM), Minimum, Maximum
Enter minimum, maximum, and required inventory levels in this warehouse.
In the Required (Purchase UoM) field, the system displays the quantity to keep the stock at the minimum level.
If you select Release Stock Below Minimum Level in the Document Settings, the system issues alerts when the quantity goes below the minimum. The system does not let you enter stock documents when the stock reaches its maximum quantity.
