And also make sure in the future, use the version management feature to recover. or there are some 3rd party products available for this purpose like 360 from GB & Smith

If it's not in the Recycle Bin ans Denis mentioned, then you're in for a lot of work.

First, the obvious -- if any of your co-workers had imported the universe, they may still have a copy and you can just have them re-export.

If not, then at a bare minimum you'll need access to a backup of the FRS from before the universe was deleted. If you don't have that, then you might be out of luck.

Assuming you have the FRS backup, next step is to find where the file is. If you don't have a ton of universes in the system, you can simply search the FRS backup for .unv files (or .unx if it's IDT). The file names won't be recognizable, but you can just open each one till you find the one you're looking for. Or, you can query the CMS for all existing universes to get the FRS location, and by process of elimination locate the one that was deleted.

As an alternative, you could search the data directory on the BO server for *.unv files. If it is still cached then it will be in there. Again, it won't have a recognizable name, but you can just open all .unv files that you find.

This will just get you a .unv/.unx file. You can export this to the CMS, but it will get a new CUID and existing WebI reports may not be linked to it. In this case, you would also need a backup copy of the CMS repository -- restore it to a temporary location, create a new SIA/CMS for it, point it to the restored FRS, start up the server, and use Promotion Manager to either move it to the original environment directly or via a BIAR file.

If you use BI4.2 Sp2 + then the universe might be in Recycle bin.
If not - you will need to make it again, as in previous versions deleting object in CMC removes it permanently.
Ask your DBA and OS admins - maybe they have CMS DB and FRS backups.
