Where to maintain authorizations when using BO on top of SAP Infocubes

Hi all

We have a scenario with SAP BI 7.0 and Business Objects XI Release 2 installed, where we want end users to view reports through BO Web Intelligence (the users will have access to the reports through the BO Web Interface). It is our plan to build the BO Universes on top of a range of small to medium sized SAP BW Queries (not any queris that include entire cubes etc.). My question is now:

What is the optimal way of maintaining authorizations in a scenario like this? I would expect a setup with Single Sign On between BO and SAP BI, where we maintain the authorizations through SAP Analysis Authorizations, to be the best solution, but is this feasible?

I would really like to hear experiences from other people, and any comments are welcome.

Best regards,

Martin Søgaard

I am having dashboards currently build in Cognos on top of BW ,so architecture is

BW datamodel>Bex query>Cognos views

advantage we can leverage the Authorization concept of BW ,we have here is the COGNOS portal,

My thoughts ...BO views should be able to published on to SAP portal and then you can utilize the SSO future.

Hope it Helps

Hi Ingo and Chetan

We are not interested in dispaying BO reports in the SAP Portal, so we will not set up any SSO between Business Objects and SAP Portal.

Ingo: As I understand you, it should be possible to set up SSO between SAP BI and Business Objects, correct? Could you help me with a link to documentation?

Kind regards,

Hi Sogaard,

you can download all the product documentation from our public website.

Look for the SAP integration Kit

Hi Soogaard,

that would be the recommended approach to use Single-Sign on and to maintain the authorizations on the SAP side so that you keep the maintenance to a minimum.

hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions
