Deletion of Material groups

Hi all,

In the past we have created different material groups for each and every plant. Now we plan to standardize this for all of them.

I plan to change all old material groups to the new ones in the material master. This would update the info records, too.

I have to find a way to change the field in all POs and PRs.

Now my question:

Is there any impact with deleting the old material groups after that?

Do I need to pay regards to something else?

Hi,

You can delete the Material group, but the system will not remove the old Material group from the Material master, PO, or any other documents untill you update the new material groups to the documents.

Table will also update with new material group once you update that.

deleting material groug will not have impact. But the existing P.O 's P.R and other documnets will carry the old Material Group.

Thanks for your quick response.

But as manipal mentioned. I have to change the material group in existing PR and PO. When I don't do this, I can not change anything in existing POs because I get an error message.

But if there are no doubts this is fine.

hi,

if u change all the master with current new material group no problem,.(take care that u are updating in all the material master, PR and PO along with info records, may b my MASS transaction )

u can delete the materiall group by WG22

go to header -material group -delete
