We have created a template project for blueprint and have finished. All of the documents were put on the project documenation tab. We are now wanting to make this a global project or implementation project and realize we cannot copy the documents over. Is there a way to easily do this or are we going to have to upload all the documents again?
Thanks, Holli
Hi Holli,
I don't think you should be too concerned about not having the history if it's just going to be used as a global template. The projects you push them out to probably aren't to concerned with the information. They just want a starting point for their project.
Another option is to copy the project to a new one so you have a backup with the history. Then copy and paste the documents to the General tab.

Jason

Hi Holli and Jason,
The button Jason talks about is the copy button, go to the general tab and use the insert button. Select insert as link to keep the history.
Documents are only maintained in the Knowledge Warehouse, Solution Manager only uses links.
Even if you delete the original link, this will not change your newly created link on the general tab.
Be sure though to use the insert as link, inserting as copy will remove history as you are creating a physically new doc in the KW!

p.s. Jason, unforunately the ABAP would be a bit more complex my colleague

Hi Holli,
I believe with SP12 you can copy and paste a group of documents from one tab to the other. But you would still need to do this at every node. It would save time though. I can't remember the exact steps, but I think it's as simple as highlighting the rows, clicking an icon, moving to the general tab and clicking another icon. Perhaps it was a right click.
The other option maybe is to create some ABAP code to move them. It may be just a value that makes them show up on the different tabs (i.e. tab field: 1 = general, 2 = project) or maybe it's more complex. An ABAPer should be able to tell you.

Jason

Hi jason,
when we choose a already completed template while we are creating a implementation project.......isnt it true that the documentations created while making the template should auto copy into the imp project....?.........just like the camponents of the business scenario,t codes...etc

Thanks Jason, I will try this. The Solution Manager consultant that started this project quit and we are having to pick up the pieces and keep going. I understand the documents should not have been placed on the project doc tab if this was a template project that was going to be used as a global project. We are concerned about copying and losing the history so we may link to the document tab and then delete from the project tab. It is going to be a long week.
Thanks, Holli
