Purpose of New Analysis option in Portal

Hi all,

I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong place. Can you please tell me the purpose of the option 'New Analysis' in Portal after we run the reports. Will these be saved locally or are they temporary for that time only.

lets say u r running query x

now after some point and some execution u wish to run some query y and z

then u will hit new analysis

then u can select other queries with technical name

and hit it

then in between ur query execution of query X it will let u jump to execute other queries / views from the same page.

thats the only utility i found while using new analysis

The description was quite helpful. We use service map feature which displays all the queries in a Menu list and I think we do not need this option as the user can always go to other queries from the list.

Can you also please let me know the use of 'Open' and 'Save As' options which are beside 'New Analysis'. I could not find any documentation in SAP Help for these options.

as i said with new analysis u can open other queries and execute them any time

with open u will be able to open only the query view that u save with save as option while query execution

lets say u r running query x

after 3-4 drilldowns u want to save a view

u will use option SAVE AS and then u can save it in 3-4 folders maintained by ur portal administrator.

this folders are called KM folders maintained by portal administrator

such as bex portfolio, favourites, my portfolio etc....

with open u can open this saved views in following folders

reminder

u cannot open other queries with open command

u can only open saved views..

Thanks a lot for your detailed description. As of now we are not maintaining any folders, does it mean we cannot use Save As to save any views? The users will have to repeat the steps every time they want to that analysis. Can you send any links that help us to understand how to set up the folders etc..
