Only EXIT button active when I click on screens - Bank Information, Address

We recently had ESS installed on EP7-SP10 and the 'Overview' screen displays well.

But when I try to use the following ESS application screens, only Exit button is active. And I am not able to use any steps (other than Exit) -

Bank Information, Tax Withholding(W-4), Address, Emergency Contact.

There may be other screens giving the same problem but i listed the one I tested.

Has any one solved this before or knows the solution?

I am not sure if any HR configuration is missing?

Hi Vinay,

Check that you have defined active sub types and application case in SPRO. Enter the active infotypes and subtypes for your country version and proper usecase.

Go to : SPRO->Personal Management->Employee self service->Service specific settings-> Own Data.

The SAP help document give their is very useful in understanding the details

Can you provide me the link or copy of the latest SAP help document wherein the SAP HR side configuration for ESS is explained.

I have configured portal side but have done nothing in SPRO.

JFYI On the same portal we have an ITS version of ESS running. And all the applications are working well.

Hi vinay,

You can find help document right besides the SPRO nodes. Each node has help document attached to it. These are very helpful notes. you can also find online documentation at http://service.sap.com/ess and http://service.sap.com/mss. For specific problems, sdn is always for help. For most of the problems you will find solution already discussed.

In SPRO there are many transactions in personnel management.

I was looking for ESS application wise configuration in SPRO.

eg: For Personal Data <--> go to XXX part in SPRO

As a standard ESS implementation which transactions have to be configured in SPRO and what data should be populated.

This kind of information will be more helpful as most of the ESS screens are not working on portal because of lack of SPRO configuration.

Configuration is done on the portal side as the help document says. But the help document does not speak on the SPRO configuration. Also the path Personnel Management -> Employee Self-Service does not exist in our SAP system. I couldnt find Employee Self-Service under Personnel management.

I would appreciate help on this.

Hi Vinay,

All ESS configurations are under SPRO->IMG->Personal Management->Employee Self Service->Service specific settings only.

If you are unable to see personal management under ESS, then check EA-HR component is activated.

Go to SPRO->IMG->Activate ECC components.

Hello Vinay,

If you have created a track for the ESS application in NWDI. Then check out he code for the applications you mentioned and check to see what makes the buttons invisible. The screen you have mentioned is a dynamic screen (Bizcard). Some condition is making the buttons visibility to none.

If you can read the code you will find solution to your problem.

Hi Sudhakar,

I do have ESS code on the track and in NWDS. But I learnt that SPRO config is missing for Employee self-service.

We are trying to resolve this issue with the configuration.

If it still doesnt solve the problem then I can look at the code.

Solution: This problem is solved by SPRO configuration. For Personal Information (Address, Personal Data, Family/dependent information, Bank Information etc) to be displayed, go and configure the following screen in IMG. "Personel Management > Employee Self-Service> Service-Specific Settings> Own Data> Define Active Subtypes and Application Case". Configure this screen according to IMG documentation.

These ESS screens are visible only if proper Infotypes and subtypes configuration are done.
