HANA Express on AMD CPU

Is it possible to run SAP HANA Express on a Server with AMD CPUs (64 Bit) ?

Hmm.. I'm positively sure to have written a reply to this a few days ago, but now it seems gone...

Anyhow, the short version is: SAP HANA currently is exclusively built on INTEL and IBM Power platforms.

AMD processors are not supported and I'd be heavily surprised if VMWare could swap the processor specific opcodes for the heavily used SIMD instructions and the NUMA functionality from INTEL to AMD...

If you get it working: great - but it's not generally supported or intended to work on AMD.

I'm searching to buy an HXE server for developments and test.

Does SAP Hana Express 2.0 SPS04 work on Intel Xeon E5-2650 v2 processors in VMWare ESXi 6.5 or 6.7 ?

Is there any complete/minimum hardware requirements page for HXE ?

Hi Gerald,

there is no restriction documented with the respect to AMD or Intel.

For the server binaries the prerequisites are described in Developer Center - Installing Binary. When using the VM images the prerequisites can be found at Developer Center - Installing VM Images.

You are right and the hardware certification team is not supporting HXE with basic questions 😞
