New General Ledger

Hello Gurus,

My question is if with upgrade to new GL, i can continue to use extractor 0FI_GL_4 for line items.

My company wants to know pros and cons to know if the upgrade is viable or not.

Thanks in advance,

Vitor

    Hi,

    Some points abt this:

You cant use 0FI_GL_4 for the New GL as this extractor reads just the BSEG table and the new GL has all the line item data in FAGLFLEXA.

Idea.1-->enhance the std 0FI_GL_4 to read FAGLFLEXA in the FM: BWFIR_READ_BSEG_CPUDT_DATA that is used by 0FI_GL_4.

Idea2.-->Create a generic extractor for faglflexa./create a datasource using an SAP Infoset.

    1. Create an infoset for only table FAGLFLEXA (tcode SQ02) in source system. Make sure you check the box for 'no automatic text recognition' to avoid generating text fields. include all fields from the table.

    2. Go to RSO2 and create a datasource using the infoset.. Save your datasource without generating the generic delta. Ignore warnings for currency fields and save. Your currency will still be extracted.

    3. Go to your created data source in RSO2 and create Generic Delta. use Timestamp field with 1800 for the upper limit setting. This should create a generic delta datasource.

****SAP advised that they are going to release a standard extractor to support line items which reads from FAGLFLEXA, hopefully by early this year.**

Only Special Ledgers that are compliant with the new General Ledger can and should be transferred to the new General Ledger.

If you use additional currencies in a Special Purpose Ledger and want to replace this Special Purpose Ledger with the new General Ledger, you have to check the currencies used in the Special Purpose Ledger. The migration programs read the data in the original FI document. If the Special Purpose Ledger you want to replace uses a currency that is not contained in the original FI document, you cannot migrate this data to the new General Ledger. In this case, you must keep the relevant Special Purpose Ledger

    hope this helps,

    regards

You can still use 0FI_GL_4 for GL Line Items, again it depends on the finance functional folks - communicate with them.

We are using 0FI_GL_10 ( FAGLFLEXT ) for Totals and 0FI_GL_4 ( BSEG & BKPF ) for Line Items.

It is always preferred to go with the latest SAP offers - FAGLFLEXA.

If you extract from table FAGLFLEXA will you capture the carry-forward activity for the Balance Sheet accounts in this table. If not, must you use FAGLFLEXT to capture this data from period 0?
