No Data when all key figures are hidden

Hi All,

I don't know if it's a bug or standart functionality in BI7, but when I set all the key figures invisible in query designer and run the report it displays "No Applicable Data Found" message.

As far as I remember in BW 3.X you get the same data set as a result, but just the key figures were not displayed if you hide all the key figures.

Any idea how to display query result without any key figures?

Thanks!!!

Regards Pavel

Hi,

in BI 7 , you can still display the hidden values at run time if the property of the key field is " Hide but can be shown". when u run the query if u r using the Web templace 0analysis, it opens up in your portal. go to Filter option, select the structure from the list where u have all the key figures..

and then run the query.. there itself.. it will display the output.

I hope it helps you,,

Assign point if it is useful

Hi All,

the problem is not that I can't display the key figures that are hidden. The problem is that the report shows the blank page when all the key figures are hidden (and doesn't matter if I tick Hide (can be shown) or Always Hide)

Just to make it clear, here is the simplified scenario:

I have orders in which orders can be in different phases throught the time and I need to display all the orders which in current month are in let's say phase 2. So I developed report:

Order No.(CHA) Phase (CHA) Number of Orders (KF)

and if I run it I get list of several orders with phase 2 and Number of orders = 1. But when I hide the "Number of Orders" i get blank page, but I need to see list of orders without the column nomber of orders.

Any idea how to achieve this?

Many thanks!

Have you tried using the Report Designer????

Rakesh,

unfortunately in this phase of project the users will use just excel based Bex analyser....., so it's not possible to use Report Designer.

Thanks.

if someone's interested.....

I've tried tu hide all the key figures in other reports and it worked fine, so I checked the original report and I had zero suppresions turned on. If I hid the key figures it took them as they were equal zero and therefore didn't show the rows.

Thanks all for a help.

Hi Pavel

Unhide the keyfigures which u have hidden and check whether it has data or not for the selections which u use!

still after unhiding if it shows no applicable data found then u cannot get the disply if you hide the keyfigures also!

So check if there is any data then hide the same keyfigure if it has data and then check it

as rakesh suggested what u can do is

use the option HIDE CAN BE SHOWN.

this way it will bring the data and then if u hit restrict and select filter value and then select ur keyfigure it will bring the approproate data...

or else u can try putting 1 or another keyfigure in display mode and rest of them to hide and can be display....

if u try to hide everything than how can u see the data....

Did u use Always Hide option.

Try with Hide (Can be shown) option.........

Or I think in BI7 you can achieve this by Report Designer.
