Hi Gurus,
I just wanted to know why do we need to define a back ground job (SM36) and run a program RISTRA20 for batch.
If we scheuled all the maintenace plans thru IP30 or IP10...it`s automatally going to call the maintenace objects based on call horizon and will create a work order.
what is the need to defining job ? is tht require ? if yes what will the real live situation in plant.
It would be great if someone can help me on this thru the whole process.
regards,
vijay
Hi Vijay
Please find the step by step procedure as follows:-
Go to SM36,
- Enter the Job name. Select the Job Class. Click on
- Start Condition
- Select the Date/Time
- Enter the Start date and Time (Time at which the job has to be processed background automatically)
- Click on Periodic job.
- Click on Periodic Values and select the frequency - Daily
- Go to the Steps
- Enter the Program name and Variants (RISTRA20)
- Save the Transaction. Ensure the transaction (program)is released.
- Go to SM37.
- Select the job and job status and Execute
- The list of jobs will be displayed. The status should be released
For scheduling, the system converts all the on-hold maintenance calls, with a date that satisfies the call horizon , into a maintenance call object (for example, maintenance order)
The system also performs a complete rescheduling of the maintenance plan , and ensures that maintenance calls exist for the next n days (field Scheduling period in the Scheduling parameters screen). The system always generates at least one on-hold maintenance call.
I hope this is clearly explained

Hi
By defining a job in Back ground by SM36 you can ensure that there are no time-out issues.Particularly in large process industry where there are lots of Maintaenance plans getting due on a daily basis.
As you must be knowing in order to optimise the front end operation , certain time is allocated for the transaction , after which it gets timed-out.This setting is done by the Basis People.
So its your choice whether you want to use IP30 regularly or go for Back Ground processing by SM36
I hope this makes it clear

Hi Vinay,
Sorry..for the late reply.
I understand deadline monitroing is used for sceduling a jobs bulkly instead of using ip10 for each one.
But is tht deadline monitoring is used to define jobs using variants to run in batch or sm36 will be used?
My question is..if we can able to schedule the jobs thru dealing monitoring itself why we need to define a job?
hope I am clear..
please help
Vijay

Hello Vijay,
The use of background job is to avoid the manual activity of doing IP30 for all the maintenance plans.
By means of scheduled jod, deadline monitoring is automated in the system.
Thanks
