deletion of BOMS

For a particular material certain calulations have been which require BOM, but no BOM was found in that year. Is it possible to delete a BOM and its records completely, so that we cannot trace whether the material had a BOM or not?

Make delition flag and archaive.

You can even delete the header itself if required

Hi Sampada,

You can delete BOM in following three ways,

1. You can delete BOM by creating change number with the date from which you want to delete BOM, in this case history will remain in the system.

2. You can delete BOM by activating deletion indicator, BOM will get deleted in next archiving run. In this case you can use that BOM with deletion flag till archiving run.

3. You can delete BOM directly from the transaction code CS02----Material BOM (Menu bar) -

In this case once you delete BOM there willl not be any history of this BOM.

If you delete a BOM, it is deleted on the effective date on which you deleted it. If you run transaction CS03 and put in a date range prior to when you deleted it, you will see that the BOM still exists in the system prior to the date you deleted it. If you go back to the initial system date and delete it, it will still exist for one day. If there are any dependent objects in the system(eg. Production Orders) , you will not be able to delete it. There is a program RCBOMDEL for deleting BOMs, I have not used it, but would recommend giving it a try.

BOM when deleted in CS02, does not leave any trace in the database. Probably in your case also was deleted like that.

Are you using ECN for BOM? if so if you Delete the BOM also you can have the History of it. Then you need to use a Function Module to delete it completely with History.

Apart from archiving you can also simply delete the BOM by going in change mode -CS02,material -->Delete
