Hi,

I have successfully installed an application server on LINUX X86_64, but I can't start the instance because no database connect to database server on SOLARIS SPARC 64 bit is possible. R3trans -d -v finished with return code 12:

4 ETW000 R3trans version 6.13 (release 640 - 10.07.07 - 13:48:00).

Thank you all for your help!

The actual problem were different host names. The database server and the application server communicated through one networkcard. But the communication to clients was trough an other networkcard and an other host name.

On my Linux application server only the host name for communication with clients was known. This host name was also used in the tnsnames.ora.

Because of that a correct tns resolution could not be possible.

With changing the entry in the tnsnames.ora the problem could be solved.

/etc/hosts is up to date?

are you able to ping the db server?

Hello Sandro,

>> 4 ETW000 http://dboci.c ,00000 *** ERROR => OCI-call 'OCIServerAttach' failed: rc = 12535

You receive an ORA-12535 / TNS-12535 ... this means "TNS:operation timed out" and points to an TNS configuration / naming error.

What is your CONNECT_TIMEOUT value for the listener - please try it and set it to 0.

You can restart your listener after setting this value without any harm.. all established connections will be persist.

If you have installed a complete oracle client on your application server you can test the setting with "tnsping PRD".

Regards

Stefan
