EXTENDING OF MATERIALS FROM ONE PLANT TO ANOTHER PLANT.

List out all the materials under the various material types and organization level in the first plant using the following tables.

MARA -

General material data

MARC----

Plant data for materials

MVKE----

Storage location data for material

A501----

plant/materials.

By using the LSMW, We can extend the materials from one plant to another plant.

Before going to LSMW just go for finding what the views are maintained for each material type. Following method is suggested to find maintained views in each material type.

Go for MM02 transaction code in another session, give material of each material type and find what views are maintained.

Use transaction code of LSMW, give names & descriptions of project, subproject and object and then execute.

After execute, we can see the 20 steps in the LSMW. Radio button is automatically placed in the first step.

First step

Now go for the execute. We can see the another screen, in this

Screen place the cursor on batch input recording (radio button on batch input recording).

And press Display↔Change icon botton.

In header press goto and then we can see small screen. In that screen press Recording Overview.

Now we can see another screen, in this select the create icon. In recording popup, give recording name and description and then enter.

We can see the transaction code popup and give the transaction code MM01 and press the enter.

Enter the material number in the material field and enter the the same material number in the field of copy from material and then press enter.

System automatically pick up the data of industrial sector and material type and once again press enter.

Now we can see the list of views for that material type. Select the list of views ( these are selected based on the views maintained in the first plant)and press enter.

The we can see the organization level popup. In this we can enter the organization levels fields and copy from fields.

Continue to press the enter botton to get the LAST DATA SCREEN REACHED POPUP and then enter the YES botton.

Then we can see the screen of PROCESS RECORDING. Press the Default All button.

Now we can see the list of technical names of the fields. Go to the technical field name of material number (MATNR).Here we can see the two time of MATNR. Go for first MATNR and change into MATNR1 (double click on MATNR, we can get another popup screen, name can be changed MATNR into MATNR1).Second MATNR has to be changed into MATNR2.

Likewise we have to change the technical fields’ names.

Namesof fields -

To be copied----

Reference fields

i)Plant( WERKS) -

WERKS1----

WERKS2

ii)Stor loc(LGORT)--

LGORT1--

LGORT2

iii)Sales Org (VKORG) -

VKORG1----

VKORG2

iv)Dist channel(VTWEG)--

VTWEG1--

VTWEG2

Save and come back twice.

Place the cursor in the field of recording and press the popup, then recording name will place in the field of recording and save it and come back.

Second step

Radio button is placed automatically in the second step. But we can see the total steps of 14. Presses execute. Now we can see the another screen. Here we can go for change mode. In this create a structure with a name and save it& come back.

Third step

Now radio button is on the third step. Press execute, we can see another screen, in this go to first change mode and press TABLE MAINTENANCE.

Here give the field names(technical names), type of fields(character, numeric) and length of field( std of length of field like werks -04). Press enter , save and come back, save and come back.

Fourth step

Automatically cursor is placed on the fourth step, now execute. We can see another screen, in this place the cursor on the source name and press the create relationship,

Save and come back.

Fifth step

Automatically radio button is placed on the fifth step. Click on execute, we can see another screen , here press the DISPLY↔CHANGE button.

Place the cursor on the each field and press the source field. We can see popup screen, in this place cursor on the same field and then press enter. Likewise it has to be maintained for all the fields. For check box fields, place cursor on the check box field, press constant button, we can see the popup screen. In this provide ‘X’(yes). Likewise continue to for check box field. Save and come back.

Sixth step: Maintain fixed values, translations, user-defined routines

You can also maintain re-usable translations and user-defined routines, which can be used across conversion tasks. In this case, that step is not required.

Seventh step: Specify files

In this step, we define how the layout of the input file is. The input file is a Tab delimited with the first row as field names. It is present on my PC (local drive) as C:\materiallist.txt.

Eight step: Assign files

Execute step ‘Assign Files’ and the system automatically defaults the filename to the source structure.

Ninth step: Read data

In this step, LSMW reads the data from the source file (from your PC’s local drive). You have the option to read only selected rows and convert data values to Internal format.

Tenth step: Display read data

This step is optional. If required, you can review the field contents for the rows of data read.

Eleventh step: Convert data

This is the step that actually converts the source data (in source format) to a target format. Based on the conversion rules defined, source fields are mapped to target fields.

Twelfth step: Display Converted data

Again this is an optional step to view how the source data is converted to internal SAP format

Thirteen step: Create batch input session

Once the source data is converted in an internal format, you can create a batch session to process updates.

Fourteen step: Run Batch Input Session

You can execute the BDC session by Run Batch input session. Executing a batch input session is a standard SM35 transaction for managing BDC sessions. Once you have successfully executed the batch input session, the material master records are updated in the system. You can confirm this by viewing the material master records (mm03) in second plant.

Hi There,

One more question on this:

How can I extend materials to a new plant and Sales Org. through LSMW?

I use the Standard Batch Object 0020, program RMDATIND for creating new Materials the first time (this works fine), but there is no option 'Extend to existing material' or there is no field called Reference Material to extend materials.

Maybe it is because we use internal numbering of the new Materials that makes it unpossible to extend materials to existing material-numbers?

Thank you, regards, Walter.

Hi Walter,

Just duplicate the relevant line in your excel changing only the field "WERKS" to the new one. The material will automatically extend to this new plant.

Hi,

As far as I know, if you want to see those fields in step 5, you have the set the default in your recording definition screen for those fields.

Hi,

You are defining reference plant in recording but as the system has the same field name for both reference plant and plant as "WERKS" , the system does not give the second field.

Instead, after doing recording, just change the name of the reference plant field.

You do it by double clicking on that field and one box will appear .in that you can name the field what you want.

i think this will solve your prob

Reward if it helps
