Use webdbm to first create the Instance (it is very easy to use the webdbm to create the instance)

    Use the dbmcli as

    1. dbmcli -u user/passwd -d instance_name

    2. sql_execute create table student (roll int)

    3. sql_execute insert into student values(10)

    ....

    ...

Use the SQL commands to populate the data.

    • Hi Balu,

      sorry, that won't work properly.

To use (noninternal) SQL with DBMCLI it's necessary to open a SQL session as well. With the dbmcli-call you provided one only gets a DBM-Session (to administer the db instance).

If you really want to use the dbmcli to work with SQL then you would either add the -uSQL username,pw clause or issue a sql_connect username, password to get a SQL session.

But I would not recommend to use dbmcli for SQL at all.

Use sqlcli, SQL Studio, WebSQL or the DB Studio. These tools even have graphical tools that help to design and query your database.

Give the MaxDB Database Studio a shot - it's available for free in the community download area of SDN.

      Best regards,

      Lars

    Hi,

you can use SQL, like you would with any other relational database.

If you're new to SQL, read the MAXDB SQL tutorial at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/98/11b83fa6b33c17e10000000a114084/frameset.htm

    Thanks,

    Ashwath
