Hello Gurus,

We have a requirement to build a new sandbox with production data on IBM I and DB400. Could you share your thoughts on this?

I would like to know installation part of db2 on IBM I.

Do you recommend building a new system and then restore R3SIDDATA to newly built sandbox?

or

Do you recommend system copy? Please share your thoughts that could help me.

Best Regards,

Amarnath

Hi Amarnath,

Homogeneous System Copy of course. Adding on the above, You have to have an Offline backup of the source system & then you can go for a database redirect restore method. Maybe also you would require to create a restore script for the restoration process. For the backup & restoration different types of DB2 commands, please refer,

https://blogs.sap.com/2016/09/07/some-essential-simple-db2-clp-commands-to-get-you-started/

Let us know if facing any issue. We would love be of any sort of assistance in those matters.

Thanks,

Kaushik

Hi Amarnath.

You have to follow the SAP standard system copy from Source system(Current system) to target system (New system). On IBMi if your are having full backup. From the backup you can build the new sandbox system. Kindly refer the SAP System copy guide and Note
