Hello !

Where do I find information on how to call RFC functions in SAP ECC 6.0 from COBOL or CLP programs on I5 V5R4M0 ?

Thanks and regards.

Alexandre

I found the topic too complex. I already have the RFCs and Their answers structures already done. I just need a comand to call them and receive the results. Is it necessary all these programs and controls ?

Thanks a lot ! Now I need to download the program from market place and check if my problem will be solved. I do not have this program in my SAP Iseries libraries.

Hi Alexandre,

I guess, you are using 7.00 or 6.40 kernel - this object is an PASE AIX object nowadays ;-((

I would suggest, that you use for this special program, you are talking of, an e.g. 4.6D kernel - there it is a lot easier and similar as described in the docu above.

... for sure, to run the PASE EXE is possible as well, but a bit more complicated for a "green-screen-guy" ...

Hi Volker!

Now I am lost! We are using KERNEL 7.00 level 11. Do I need to download a previous KERNEL version ? Or is there an option to use my KERNEL version ?

You are right, I am a "green-screen-guy" and I am a little bit confused, but I think that I can understand, or at least look for some extra help, if more "high-tech" skills are needed.

Thanks, Alexandre

Hi Alexandre,

so:

For your SAP System you NEED the 7.0 Kernel ...

But:

STARTRFC could be from 3.1i => the release is not important ...

=> I would suggest to use the 4.6D Kernel for STARTRFC - just put it to some lib on the server and run with your SAP system 7.0.

You could run 7.0 for everything, but then you should be aware, that startrfc is "onboard" already in /usr/sap/sid/SYS/exe/run ...

I could help you with further questions offline.

Hi Volker,

I got when you say to put the STARTRFC of version 4.6D on any library and use it, but I have two more questions:

Is it still possible to download the kernel library from 4.6D ?

Why can't I use the STARTRFC from my kernel version ?

Thanks again,

Alexandre

Hi Alexandre,

for sure you can use the 7.00 one:

Just go ahead ...

/usr/sap/sid/SYS/exe/run/startrfc )

If you as an iSeries expert are able to handle this without too much effort - then congratulations ...
