s/4 hana material ledger

In Sap S/4 Hana material ledger has been mandatory. I understand it is useful in material valuation, product costing and helps in maintaining in number of currencies.

Material ledger concept is applicable to only materials for which price control is STANDARD Price and not moving average price ?

In theory, just materials which managed with standard price(S) are subject of material ledger and actual costing(3). That's why materials are being defined as 3S.

Please check the OSS note 2299417 - Materials not included in CKMLCP when price determination is 2V for more detail.

Reproducing the Issue

• Enter transaction CKMLCP.
• Fill in input parameters.
• The required material is not selected for the costing run.

Cause

• The reason why the costing run has not selected the required material for actual price determination is that the price determination field is set to 2V (Transaction-based).
• Examples included are when the quantities for the material documents don't show on the header of the purchase or sales orders when their price determination is transaction based. In this case, the materials may not of been included in the material documents under transaction CKMM.

Resolution

• For the material to be included in the actual costing run selection along with the actual price calculated for it, the price determination must be set to 3. Please also see notes 703604 and 384553 which provide further direction in terms of the change of price determination (Single-/Multilevel).
