Hi All,

I am trying to run an application in Windows 8 that uses crystal reports application to generate a report but everytime I try to generate a report I am getting this error.

Error starting report <wovClientMeerdereCreditCMPLX.rpt>.

Source: KrpRapportage. Location: fliPrepareReport. Error code: 20544.

Error in File UNKNOWN.RPT: Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.

I have provided full access to Everyone in my C:\temp folder. Also I have installed Crystal Reports using Crystal reports.msi file , but I cannot find any registry keys that was created for the application under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Please help.

Hi Mayuri,

CR Designer gets installed using a setup.exe file and not a MSI.

What version of CRD are you installing?

Also requires PC Admin rights so when you find setup.exe right click on it and select run as administrator.

Hi Don,

I am installing the 8.5.01 version of the crystal reports. For the application we had received a .msi file called CrystalReportsRuntime. Is there any other way we can run the Crystal reports without the setup.exe file ? Please help.

No, the msi is for an application someone wrote and does not include CR Designers.

8.5 is more than 10 years old, time to upgrade both CR Designer and the application.
