All DBs support SAP, the difference is what you spend to accomplish the same for each platform. Don't think of it in terms of one DB being faster or more stable than another. Think about what it takes to get each platform to the same level of performance and availability. Those SAP standard "benchmarks" are marketing baloney and should not be considered when choosing a platform. The i5 will usually come out ahead if you take everything into consideration - h/w, s/w, maintenance, and HA costs.

Hello Anwer,

The official benchmark of SAP is available at

http://www.sap.com/solutions/benchmark/index.epx

Various platforms are listed for different SAP products and releases. For example, DB2 UDB for i5/OS helds the top position for 2-tier BW 3.5.

If properly sized and tuned, all RDBMS options supported would run SAP with good performance. And other aspects, like reliability, scalibility, low maintenance cost, etc should also be considered.

I would choose a RDBMS with good in-house knowledge. Otherwise, the learning curve could make the implementation tough.

Best regards,

Victor
