pl. explain me what is the use of USAGE and HIGHER LEVEL ITEM CATEGORY in ITEM CAT> DETERMINATION?

Hi Vinod

Item category usage helps in defining whether the material is used as the text item,batch split, pakaging or as a service item.

You can specify the item category usage while defining the item category for a particular sales document type.

Higher Level Item is mainly used either to maintain Bill of material or service item for the main item or free goods for the main items.

Higher Level Item Cagegory:

This column is used when the behaviour of a material is dependent on the line item or the material which is above it in the sales order.

Ex: In a senario where for every COKE there is a free item PEN is given. The line item PEN is dependent on its Previous line item COKE.

ITEM CATEGORY = Sales Document Type + Item Category Group + Usage + Higher Level Item Category.
