What is the difference between extending the customer and creating with reference to another customer

hi

when the customer already exists in the sales area and now when u want to add the customer to another sales area new u can use this extending customer.

referencing the customer is when creating a new customer with reference to a existing customer which eases the burdern of common data entry the data will be copied

Extending a customer means the customer already exists in the system and you are extending it to one more sales area or company code.

Creating with reference means customer does not exist in the system, you are creating it new and with the help of another customer master record (used as reference) you are reducing the burden of data entry (by copying the field from that record).
