Report Designer: Static Section and Hiearchy Structure

Former Member

Hi there to everybody,

we have created one Query with two structure (one in the rows and one in the columns).

In particular the row-structure has a hierarchical presentation (selections nested one under each other), because the Query must be expanded and collapsed interactivelly.

When we try lo link this Query as DataProvider in a new Report, within the Report Designer environment, rows are mixed up in a non-sense way.

Is this a known limitation or a product error? Are there some OSS notes about?

We would avoid to manage two queries: one for navigation, with hierarchical row-structure, and one printable, with flat row-structure.

Many thanks in advance to everybody

GFV

You should be able to organize the order of structure elements in the Report Designer and save the report.

Yes, I know, but since the fact that the structure is quite complex (Balance Sheet and Income Statement) I would like to know if its' a malfunctioning. When we execute the query in Web Analyzer it's correct!

Also, if we change the structure to a "flat" presentation it works properly, presenting all the rows at thier own place.

Thanks

Hi Gianfranco,

Can you let me know how you solved this display hierarchy in report issue? I am getting the same issue with my report in report designer.

Thanks!!

Hi Sia,

the OSS answer is exaclty what we were afraid of. There's no solution to the problem. Therefore we decided to make a copy of the Query used in Web Application, and to change the Structure in the rows in a flat one. In this way it can be used directly without re-ordering rows.

Obviously this is an overhead in terms of maintenance effort.

Structure out of order should be fixed in Query Designer with FEP 14. Prior to FEP 14, Look at Query Deisgner preview pane and it already shows out of order there. We had same problem, however with FEP 14, you simply change order of the row and it causes to reorder in the correct order.

Hi Mike,

as indicated in my previous message OSS told us to work in Report Designer using a Query with "flat" structure so we have copied the Query used for interactive navigation, and then moved all structure elements to the same level. This new version was then used as dataprovider in Report Desinger.

Hi,

I am facing exactly the same problem: I have a structure in the rows of my query (structured like a hierarchy with top nodes, sub nodes and items for balance sheet / income statement).

When I use this query in the report designer it only shows the items and no top or sub nodes.

Are there any alternatives than making a new item structure having nodes and items on the same level?

Thanks for any hint!
