Want to create web services

Hi all

I want to create web services on WAS640 we are running R/34.7. I have two questions? where can we see the Web application server version on R/3 i mean in which tcode ? ...want to confirm whether we are on was640 or was620. what are the steps involved in creating web services?.....to my knowledge we have to activate the following nodes (transaction SICF -> the service should be in sap\bc\soap\wsdl11). And then in se80 we have to do some customization which i dont know.

Please any help will be appreciated

    Hi,

If you use R/3 4.7 your WAS is 6.20 and you may use either a 6.20 or a 6.40 kernel.

So your "web server" (ICM) is either 6.20 or 6.40 depending on your kernel.

For web services in R/3 4.7 you have to activate the nodes

    /sap/bc/soap/wsdl

    and

    /sap/bc/soap/rfc

Of course you must have enabled the HTTP and/or HTTPS ports in SMICM.

If you need detailed steps, use the SEARCH button on SDN, there are excellent blogs from Thomas Jung describing excatly what you need.

The SOAP implementation is a little "crude" in 6.20 compared to 6.40 and Netweaver, but it works very well : On our 4.7 production system, we call 30 000 web services flawlessly every single day.

    Regards,

    Olivier

      Steve,

I'm sorry but you will not find better docs that the Thomas Jung ones.

You have to do your own part of the work.

Nobody will understand instead of you !

No transaction is involved for the WSDL.

If you want the WSDL for the module function STFC_CONNECTION for exemple you get it at this URL

      http://<myhost>/sap/bc/soap/wsdl11?services=STFC_CONNECTION&sap-client=<myClient>

      Best Regards,

      Olivier
