Hi Friends,
Env BPC10.1
I have question related to performance implication of using member formula.
I went though a post in sdn, which stated that member formula turned ON, actually reduces the performance of the reports by 30%, even if we don't have any member formulas defined on that dimension
We have member formula turned ON for account dimension and it has around 6 formulas.
(mostly ratios). Account dimension has around 1500 base level accounts. I am trying to figure out if it reduced the performance by that extent, then is it worthwhile to have a member formula than a simple excel calculation.
Is it related to the number of members in dimension on which the member formula is put on? How is the metric calculated on performance.
If the environment has member formulas ON on 2 dimensions, does it reduce the overall performance of the reports by 60% if the 2 dimension are in the row or column axis.
Thanks for your time
Ed
"I went though a post in sdn, which stated that member formula turned ON, actually reduces the performance of the reports by 30%, even if we don't have any member formulas defined on that dimension" - incorrect assumption! There is no simple way to predict the effect of member formulas. In general member formulas will slow down report but it depends on many factors. You have to test yourself!
