Reset to AVLB from EDEL and ESTO status of an Serialized Equipment in Plant Maintenance

Hi Experts,

Business has been create an equipment, linked to material and assigned a Serial number to it. Thereafter, they have created Return delivery w/o order for two materials with a goods movement type 657.

But, later on; they realized one material (N103414-2) is not supposed to be and posted a movement type 521 as a GI reversal for that material "N103414-2".

Now, they want to use same equipment with same serial number again in other WO and further GI. Therefore, they are trying to change the equipment status (via IQ02) from "EDEL ESTO" to "AVLB" but the system is not providing such option to make it possible.

Please suggest how to achieve that.

Is that a good practice to do in that way? How will it impact if they reset the status to AVLB?

Attaching screen shots for detailed understanding.

I tried searching in SDN but could not find exact issue/solution.

Best regards,

    Thanks Peter for your response.

If it would have been that much easy, I would have done it.

Please go through the attachment. You will find more info to help me.

They did GI without serial number with movement type 657 and then posted movement type 521 for that material only.

Thereafter, they need to change the status.serial-number-1.jpgserial-number-2.jpg

    You could try the following:

    • Go into IE02 for the equipment
    • Use menu path: Edit->Special Serial Number Functions->Manual Transaction
    • Change status as required

    .

Let the situation with your equipment status for a moment apart and let us focus on your process in general which isn't right at all from my point view.

A 521 movement can never ever be considered as a "reversal" to a 657 movement.

So the answer to your question "Is that a good practice to do in that way?" is a clear NO.

657 does a customer return into blocked stock

    521 creates inventory without order

This just means you created stock twice.

If you have done a wrong return delivery then just cancel its movement with VL09 and do it right instead of using a movement type with a totally different meaning.
