price update in Item Master Data not reflected in BOM

Former Member

The price of an item which was updated in the Item Master Data cannot be reflected in the BOM price list, which is still holding the old price, only after you manually click the price dropdown to "refresh", then it will display the latest updated price.

In detail: Open BOM, the column "Price List" is "My price list" ,which has been updated in Item Master Data. But the column "Unit Price" is still displaying the old price. Only after you click the little arrow of the column "Price List", then it will be displaying the updated price. The result is that I have to click all the little arrows in the BOM to get the updated price.

SAP B1 won't be designed this way. Anybody can give me a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Suda,

Suppose I want to calculate the total cost of a certain BOM, which column "Price List" is mixed with "My price list" and "Last Purchase Price".

1. Should I use only one price list, i.e. "My price list" or "Last Purchase Price" logically?

2. Once I update "My price list" by using "Update Parent Item Prices Globally", "My price list" gets updated, but the column "Last Purchase Price" all turn blank. Anyway to bring them back except by clicking the little arrow manually one by one?

Victor,

You should maintain one Pricelist and do all your updates using this pricelist. You are correct, if a Component Item is on Last Purc Price, the Price column shows blank because SAP only updates the price but it does not change the pricelist BOM.

You will probably use DTW and reset all BOM parent and Child Items to one Pricelist and then run the Update Parent Prices Globally..

Suda,

I have found your replies are very helpful to newbie like me. Would you give me a clue or outline on how to use DTW to reset all BOM parent and Child Items to one Pricelist?

You will use the templates available under DTW folder oProductTrees.

It contains a Header and Lines template for the BOM Header and Lines.

Please see the DTW samples folder to get some guidelines on filling the templates.

I will also post some details once I get done with what I am doing.

Suda,

1. I am currently on SBO 2005A PL 20, I've checked the issue of the "last purchase price" not being refreshed in the BOM on PL 36 .... Incidentally, the system behaves in the exact same fashion. I heard I can force the data refresh by using a format search, do you know how to do it?

2. If I don't use "last purchase price", instead using "My price list", thus I can use "Update parent items globally" to update the BOM. To achieve this goal, you suggest to use DTW, which I am still trying to figure out, meanwhile I've checked the SAP SDK and found the table ITT1 contains a column "PriceList" , which flags the certain price list being used. Can I reset this field to flag my price list without affecting data integrity?

Thanks...

Victor,

You have an option under Production module to Update prices globally.

You do it from Production > Update Parent Item Prices Globally > Update Parent Item Prices – Selection Criteria window.

Select the Pricelist you updated. Select Parent or Components Radio button and click UPDATE.

Suda,

Thanks for reply. I have tried your solution and I found new problems:

1. "My price list" has been updated successfully. The problem is "Last Purchase Price" all turn into blanks. I have to manually click the dropdown arrow to get all of them back to display;

2. Do you mean anytime I open a BOM, I need to do this "Update Parent Item Prices Globally" in order to get the updated price?

Victor,

If you have your BOM component on the Last Purchase Price the YES you will have to change it to the Price list you want.

If the Pricelist on the BOM components is correct then you do not have to do anything.

The Update Parent Item Prices Globally option will only update the pricelist that is defaulted in the BOM / BOM component. It is not designed to change the Pricelist itself
