Solid-state disk to boost performance of MaxDB/liveCache

Dear aces,

Does anyone have the experience of using solid-state disk (SSD) (SDRAM-based) such as the one from Solid Data Systems to help boost performance of MaxDB/liveCache?

We try to work with a customer to verify/prove if external storage SSD can help the I/O of log writing, cache staging to disk, etc. This is our last resort. It's said SSD can improve much of random read/write performance.

The OS is AIX, server IBM p5 570, liveCache 7.4. Memory is 40GB on liveCache server.

If this works, we might just replace the RAID array, in part or all, with SSD. It sounds feasible. But we really want some experience information.

Appreciate.
