Conditional display based on CMC user group

Would like to add a dropdown in a DS application that is only visible for users in a certain User Group (maintained in CMC). Basically manangers should se it, employees not. Is it possible to get members of a user group from BO Platfrom into Design Studio?

Once I have it I guess I can check if "DS_01.getInfo().user" is part of that memberlist and toggle the display parameter based on that.

Anyone knows how to access the user group tables? Thinking about creating a universe on top of that.

Bit Tricky....As far as i know once you grant acess to the user for specific folder or report, then i do not think you can control the authorizations for BO design studio components and its data in design studio report...I recommend if your data is SAP BW /HANA, why dont you create specific authorization object/analtitcal privileges to control the data in the back end? and their users and roles can be replicated in BO and can be used with same authorizations?

May be some one can give a better solution.

Hi Lakshmi,

Thanks for your answer. It's an Idea worth considering. The dropdown object is quite central and used in alot of reports so would like to avoid making it authorization relevant. So far the Data access policy has been that everyone should see everything (until now).

Maybe I can do a variant of it; creating a dummy provider that only can be accessed by user role "managers", create as DS against that and set visibility on the dropdown based on the response.

Hi Martin,

Your request is quite a legitimate one but unfortunately not supported by standard Design Studio. You can evaluate the APOS Identity Controller extension which I believe includes a script function to return a list of the User Groups the current user belongs to:!features/Identity_Controller

Thanks for the tip Mustafa!
