Cross Dock in SAP Retail on HANA

Hello All,

I have to design a solution for Cross Docking in SAP Retail on HANA, and I am struggling to come up with the best approach. Hoping there are some greater minds out there!

In summary we have two sites (A [Store] & B [DC]) in two different company codes (A & B). We want to cross dock the following scenario:

  1. Site "A", Company Code "A", places Purchase Order "123" for Article "456" on External Vendor "A".
  2. Vendor "A" is a "Cross Dock" vendor.
  3. Vendor "A" submits an ASN.
  4. Receipt of the ASN creates Inbound Delivery "789" for delivery to Site "B", Company Code "B" for Cross Dock to Site "A".
  5. Delivery 789 arrives at Site "B".
  6. Site "B" cross docks the delivery "789" for Site "A".
  7. The product is then on-shipped to Site "A"
  8. Site "A" performs Goods Receipt

So, that is the summary, but there are some other key points:

  • Site "B" will never know what actual product (article) is in the delivery. They are only to know that there are X-number of cartons for Cross Dock to Site "A".
  • At no point in time do we want to inventory (including valuation) manage Article "456" in Site "B".
  • We don't have WM or Lean WM active as there is an external WMS system. But if we need to implement at least in part Lean WM to support just this process we could look at that possibility.

Solution ideas that I have been considering, ranging from the "possible" to the "never in a million years":

  1. Somehow use Allocations.
  2. Somehow create "dummy" shipments with HUs representing the cross dock cartons.
  3. Lean WM (though I have no idea how)
  4. Build completely bespoke solution

For what it is worth there is a process diagram attached.

Many thanks in advance!
