Hi
1. Suppose my parent item is P1 and it has got 3 components C1, C2 & C3 in BOM.
Now how we can identify P1 is parent item and C1 to C3 are child items. Whether there is any indicator which differentiate these two items in BOM. Which table can be refered?
2. In above case P1 is parent item(header item) but in some other BOM it may become component item so how to differentiate it.
Thnx
Neel
Hi neel
u can use where used list for this CS15
CS11 for Parent material BOM explosion.
CS15 where used list of child material.

Hi All
Still my question is not answered.
1.In which table this information is stored. I know these t-codes.
Plz think broadly w.r.t. BOM how one can identify these two items header item and component item.
2. Suppose we hv to take this information to different system ex. BW then we can not use this T-codes. We hv to use data available in tables only.
Thnx
Neel
Mr. Umakant,
If i am right, when we read directly from the tables mentioned by you, it will read only a single level BOM. To read multi-level BOMs we need to have a program, which calls for CS11 or CS12 program.
Await your inputs on this.
Note for Neel: I guess all of us posted the transactions simply because your initial question was not specific, anyways apologies for having posted the transactions which you knew.

Hi Vivek
Thnx for ur reply. And need not to apologize. Replies recd from u all are very much informative. Actually in my 1st post only I hv requested to know the name of tables.
I will try to follow the instructions recd from u and will see whether I get required result. This is mainly required for BW reporting.
Thnx
Neel
hi Neel
see if you want to see the components and recognise the parent and child materials sub con purchase order wise, try the MSEG table here. Here the field line ID gives the ID of the line in BOM, and the field parent id will have value 000 for parent materials whereas child materials will have the value of the parent materials line id in the parent id field.
reward if helpful
Hi Neel,
Check for the following transactions:
1. CS03 - Displays 1 level BOM (i.e. Parent & the components under it).
2. CS11 - Displays level by level BOM (i.e. all level 1 under the parent, followed by all level 2 & so on).
3. CS12 - Multi-level BOM - This displays the parent & all children associated with that
4. CS15 - Where used list, you can check for the component is used in which BOMs
In these transactions, there is a column which displays the BOM level, so you can know if it is level - 1 or 2 or so on
Hope the above transactions should give you the information you are looking for.
Regards,
Vivek
