Permissions assigned to folder not getting copied along with folders

Former Member

Hi All,

I have a Folder A under root folder. Folder A has two more folders inside it, B and C. All three folders have specific permissions assigned.

root

-

A

-

B

-

C

I want to move folder A along with B&C under folder X?

root

-

X

-

A

-

B

-

C

The problem is if I copy folder A and paste in the new folder X only the folders A,B and C gets copied but their permissions doesn't.

How do I copy all folders along with the permissions intact?

Now I tried using option "Move", it says folder 'A' is root folder and cannot be moved.

Kindly Help

Vishal

Hi,

Any folder just under the root is a repository and thus cannot be moved directly. You can copy the contents from it but cannot remove it.

You can try to KM-ICE transport the contents to the required folder. If you use ICE transport then the permission will be retained.

Hey thanks for the help.

But with the ICE transport can I put the folder A in folder X.

I feel the transport will take the same hierarchy i.e while I transport

root

-

A

-

B

-

C

so when I import back it will get imported directly under root, where as i want

root

-

X

-

A

-

B

-

C

Hi,

When you will use ICE Transport, you will be asked for a destination RID. You can then browse and select the destination as "X" in your case. All the folder structure (A, B and C) will be copied as desired.
