Issue with MM01 / MM41 with Industry sector and background recordings

We are a retail shop utilizing MM01 and MM41. Our SI set up TCode WSS1 with the Industry sector of Retail (1).When creating materials in MM01, our users are sometimes selecting Retail as the industry sector, and everything seems to be working fine. However, we are trying to create a background recording in SHDB for MM01 with the industry sector Retail and the program is switching over to MM41.This is because of the configuration in WSS1.The materials that are being created in MM01 are production materials being purchased and materials that we are making to be sold at our stores.

What is the best practice for industry sectors when utilizing MM01 and MM41?

If we shouldn’t use Retail in MM01,

  • Should we be making a custom version of Retail for them to use, or should an existing standard industry sector be used?
  • Is there any negative impact relating to materials already set up with Retail?

    Hi Darcy

You can use both material (using MM01) and article (MM41) in IS Retail, keeping in mind that some of the retail functions can't be used with material and some of the standard functions can't be used with article. It depends on what your business requirement is to choose between them.

If your requirement is trading (purchase and then sell with margin) use retail featurs.
