DBA Update stats job failing

Experts,

I am trying to run the Update stats job from DBA planning calendar, but the job is failing with error Can't exec external program (2) WaitForSingleObject failedwith %d (6).

I am able to connect to BRTOOLS at OS level and I am able to run the command "brconnect -jid STATS20171020080000 -u / -c -f stats -t ALL" successfully from command prompt . I had to run the sapdba_role.sql query for brconnect to work. I am on Oracle 11203 on Windows platform. Can anyone help me figure out where the issue is here.

Is the SAP instance running on the host where the Oracle database is running or is this a distributed setup? Check the work process trace file of the background job. You will see more information there.

Is the rfc connection ok? I think the rfc should fail as well.
