Hi Mani,

These days techno-functional or functional-techno is a growing trend in the market. People with technical as well as functional knowledge can handle many things at their end only and it helps in many ways to the organization.

For career prospects its good to have ABAP knowledge as you already working as on SD.

Regards,

Subhasha

Hello Balaji,

I cannot stress how important it is to be a whiz technically as well as to have good business know-how, as the emerging roles revolve around being an all rounder, to be able to seamlessly handle the SOA implementations.

I do understant this is not going to happen in a year or two but its going to happen sooner or later, just want you to keep an eye.

You'd think that the more skills you have, the better. But sometimes, where a company is organised with a rigid functional/technical split they wouldn't know where to put you. I once lost an opportunity because of this; they hired three new functional guys the week before I finished an assignement in the deveklopment team.

Plus I've heard it said that if you're a functional person having the word ABAP in your CV can knock 20% off your rate.
