Manipulate Excel Export in Design Studio (1.6.)

is there a way to manipulate the standard excel export in regards to cell formatting? In my current project we have a standard export (APPLICATION.export(ExportType.EXCEL_xlsx,CT_EXPORT);) of a crosstab. But the exported data contains also empty/null cells. The problem the customer is facing is that in excel these cells are not formatted as number cells. Therefore, before you can do any further calculations on the export you have to manually format these cells into number cells.

I know that in the query properties you can manipulate cells with a zero in it (e.g. change 0.00 EUR to an empty cell). But it doesn't work the other way around.

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Hi Saood - I would look at automating this in Excel using a VB script. I don't think Design Studio has control over Excel functions. See

In Lumira Designer 2.0 you have the capability to export to Analysis Office, so I hope when you get to that it will export the way your customers like.

    • Hi Tammy,

thanks for the support! We actually also thought about that. However, for that you would have to write an own excel addin to be installed by the customer itself (or centrally distributed via their Helpdesk). On top of that the created Excel from design studio must have some sort of UX elements to trigger the conversion on selected cells.

I think the best shot is to wait for Lumira 2.0. and retry with the new functionalities.
