Order category does not allow a good movement

dear all

as you know, good movement is defined for the following only:

  • purchase orders
  • delivery schedules
  • contract release orders

but we wanna use contract in control cycle. is there any way (setting) to carry out good receipt automatically with reference to a contract?

best regards

You know that this idea would result in unplanned goods receipts?

Purchase orders, delivery schedules and contract release orders have the planning element in common, their existence is considered in the requirements planning, which enables system and users to know when the goods arrive and can plan further production and deliveries to a customer etc.

A contract alone specifies a certain price and a certain quantity over a certain time. Not seldom I saw contracts for 2000 metric tons in a year. Without release orders or delivery schedules nobody will know when the material arrives, could be tomorrow, could be at the end of the year. Nobody knows if you have sufficient capacity to receive it. The capability of SAP is reduced to a type writer.

Why not creating the call offs or delivery schedules automatically instead of removing them from the process?

Dear Mr Jurgen

You are totally right, but using purchase orders needs updating the control cycle repetitively and that's the reason why we wanna use a contract which we can reference our POs. But I should consider more about schedule agreements. It would be helpful as you mentioned above.

best regards.
