what is the Difference between the Java Cluster and Java Enterprise Runtime

Hi Everyone,

I am BASIS admin and was trying to understand the basics of SAP Web AS Java, so was going thru the online help, after reading some documents was bit confused.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/2e/611724f410254ca12a3f396ec5ae85/content.htm

This link above provides very clear view of the Java architecture. I proceeded a head to read the internal architecture of Dispatcher as well as Server process, but the link pasted below which states the internal architecture of J2EE pushed me to a confused state.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/51/c01bc857c29f43ade7082e6a8dce07/content.htm.

This link states that the J2EE Engine System Architecture has 3 logical layers

1) Java Enterprise Runtime

2)J2EE Engine Components

3)Application.

I was unable to corelate the 3 logical layers described above to the physical components of the Java Engine as I could see that both Dispatcher & Server processes have the Managers,Services, Interfaces and Libraries.

Request you to clear my doubt. I was cross checking this theory to our Web Dynpro development system running on WAS Java SP20.

Thanks in advance.
