How to Mass Transfer Inventory Quantity and Value

Hi Experts,

We have a need to perform a transfer on inventory quantity and value from old material # to new material # in SAP ByDesign. The scale involes more than 10,000 items so we are looking for a mass transfer functionality to help us do this efficiently.

We thought about using migration of accounting data but we are not sure whether it can still be used in a live environment. And even if it can be used, what "templates" we need to use and how will the inventory value be established for the new item.

Thanks.

Dear Jiwaen,

You can use “Change of Stock” to achieve this use case .

WC: Internal Logistics Common Task: Change of Stock

In Change of Stock, you can do change of product which means the inventory quantity moves from old to new material.

Additionally there is Web Service available for Change of Stock.

Service Technical Name: II_APGACFM_GOODS_CONF_INg

Service Description: Create Goods and Activity Confirmations

Operation Technical Name: DO_GOODS_CHANGE_OF_STOCK

Operation Description: Create goods and activity confirmations for change of stock. The inbound service interface contains an operation that supports the following functionality: - Ability to perform change of stock for inventory items within a site.

Please check this at your end. It would help in achieving your requirement.

Dear Jiawen,

Thru "Migration of Inventory " it is possible to migrate the following

You can migrate the following information:

  • Quantity of materials on stock
  • Unrestricted and restricted use of the materials on stock
  • Inspection stock
  • Service part stock information (custodian ID to define where the material is located and site ID to define where it is valuated)

However mass transfer functionality is not supported in Business By Design.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Sandeep
