Hello BW Process Chain Experts,
I'm a Basis Admin assisting our BW team and we're having issues troubleshooting why BW process chains/subprocess chains are getting locked or stuck. However, when they are re-ran by our customized process chain monitor, they process successfully. We have three BW systems for each region this happens in all three systems randomly, tt doesn't matter how large or small the job loads, and it doesn't matter what time the BW process chains begin. There is nothing that stands out unique about the jobs or the systems.
All we know is that there are no errors being produced in RSPC,SM37, SM21, or ST22 logs that point to why this problem is occurring. Sometimes it works and sometimes it hangs.
We are monitoring the jobs and as they fail we begin troubleshooting, but find no errors.
The common things that we link is that the BW production systems only have 1 application server.
For workaround - We aren't getting any errors about tablespace extension issues, but we add tablespace, then they fail again at some point.
Is there a timeout issue or multiple access to target issue that causes a lock? Please share any tips to troubleshoot this issue, especially without any obvious error logs?
