Material Substituion - How to pull the correct material

Hello Guru,

We are encountering an issue with Material Substitution not pulling the correct material in this example below:

We have GENERIC material with a shelf life expiring 11/30/08, and a receipt date of 11/30/07. We have PROMO material with a shelf life of 12/5/08 with a receipt date of 12/5/07.

What is happening is that it is pulling the oldest material first and not the PROMO material. Can you advise what we would need to do to get it to pull the PROMO material?

As per the logic system is pulling correct material

as material is subject to shelf life

the material whose shelf life is going to finish first it will pic up first.

Is there any ways that my intended material as "PROMO material with a shelf life of 12/5/08 with a receipt date of 12/5/07" would be the one to be pick up?

Can you advise what we would need to do to get it to pull the PROMO material?

Hi,

Looking in long term changing the logic is not right practice.Please look for manually changes for such kind of issues.
