File name in FTP for sequential processing in ascending order

Hi All,

I am planning to use FTP connection between legacy and XI.

If XI wants to read a file from FTP folder, then according to sap help, sequential reading can only be achieved using file name reading in the ascending order. The file names are like XI111, XI112, XI113, XI114 etc etc in which XI111 is the first file placed, XI112 is the second one and so on. Is ascending means reading in this order or something else?

Thanks

Ricky

hi ricky,

only wen u have NFS as ur protocol, u have the option of setting the sequence of processing by name or date.

while in FTP wen u have multiple files picked up by XI, the files get processed in ascending alphabetic order.

in ur case XI111then XI112 then XI113 then XI114 ......

[reward if helpful]

regards,

latika.

thanks guys for the helpful answer. Here I have one more question.

For eg: If I read files XI111, XI112, XI113 etc upto XI200. And at one point, the naming of the file should start again from XI111 from legacy. At this point, if there are the two files one is the last one XI200 in the first cycle, and the second is the first one XI111 in the second cycle, which one will get picked up? I guess, XI wont read chronologically but based on ascending order of file name. If this is the case, then wrong file XI111 will get picked up instead of XI200. How can we overcome this?

thanks again

Ricky

hi ricky,

One solution could to be add timestamp. Is it possible to add timestamp for the files from legacy? if so then matter is solved.
