difference between MMRV and MMPI

hi,

what is the difference between MMRV and MMPI ?

example now we are in DEC month,

how to open the AUG month period ?

will reward points

    Hi,

    MMPI : Used for the first time to start period .

    MMRV:You can see which period is open in MMRV and sed to open back period posting for one period.example, if ur period open 12th(december), You can posting in 11th (November) by allowaing back posting.

    To open August month period , you can follow the SAP Note 487381, But its not advisable in running systems.

    Hi,

    Through MMRV one can allow posting to previous period that is Nov'07.

    Through MMPI one can open the AUG month period, but it should be done with due care n consultatation from all modules.

    MMRV gives u the detail of ur posting period

    ur current period and last posting period and last year posting perion

    in this period only u can post any transaction

    MMPI will allow u to open the previous period which u have closed (u have to be carefull to do this as SAP also dont suggest this read help for this before doing )

    MMPV is used to open new and close previous period

    MMPI is used for the first time when you start period after factory calendor settings

    MMRV is used to open back period posting for one period

    Initialize Period - MMPI RMMMINIT

    Close Period MMPV RMMMPERI

    MMPV is an activity where you have to close the prevoius period and you tell the system to allow posting in the current period.In MM we can work with two periods that presnt period ( month) and previous month .For example we have to open the Dec then for the given company we can close the Nov.In this way we can post our postiong in dec month.

    If allow back posting tick is allowed then you can work with Dec and Nov.

    Period here is the fiscal year so if you are not comfortable with the Fisacl period then do use the current date for closing period .for example

    you want to clos nov then put today date ( 01.12.2007) instead of giving the periods as different country has different fiscal periods.

    Initialize Period - MMPI RMMMINIT

    This is to insitailse the period for the company codes.this is not a regular activity.When you system is acticted then you have m aintain Company Codes for Materials Management

    To create a material master record, the control record must exist for the company code for which you want to create your master record.

    To initialize company codes during productive operation, you have to use the period closing program.

    there is also one more trancation MMRV to allow the posting to previous period for a company code
