I want to define team as a purchasing gruop and further also want each member working as a purchasing group for some materials.

I can define individual as a purchasing group. Can I also define a group of purchasing group in system ?

You can define purchasing group the way you want to. You can define individual members as well as team as purchasing groups. However you cannot group purchasing groups like a hierarchy (if that is what you mean by a group of purchasing groups).

In your case, you can define the team as a purchasing group and individual members as other purchasing groups. However, it may not be such a good idea as tracking the metrics - how many POs created by which purchasing group, etc? - will be an issue.

Also, if a user has access to 2 purchasing groups then there will always be a problem of using the wrong purchasing group - like using the individual purchasing group when the team one should be used and vice versa.

One option would be to create individuals as purchasing groups and create variants for reporting, Another option would be to create team as purchasing groups and track at the individual level by user id (Created by in reports). The first option is preferable.

Hi All,

A Purchasing Group is a grouping of departments or areas that purchase in R/3 used for assigning Purchase Requisition approval rules. The Purchasing Group field is a required field on a Purchase Requisition and is assigned to each authorized R/3 user that is part of that Purchasing Group. For example, several users from the same department or area may use the same Purchasing Group.

Both can be done.

Reward if useful.
