Regarding background process in report

For my report, if Report set in back ground, the logic that is provided for back ground has to be executed. Otherwise if an user execute the report, user can give input parameters and the logic that is provided for fore ground has to be executed. Is there any system field for this that can differenciate between background or foreground.

How to write logic for this. can anybody suggest.

Regards,

Naseer.
