any ideas as to how this can be resolved
many thanks

I request you to check the DS table once again in SE11.
Than try to once again generate the data source in RS02 if it is custome defined.
Hope this will help you.

Is it standard DS or custom Data source? Go to rsa3 and extract the data and see if you can get any data, if not then you need to make sure nobody actually make some changes to the extract structure of the datasource. If it is export data source, then may be you need to regenerate the export data source again.
Let's know when you are getting the error.
thanks.

many thanks for your reply.
yes it is a standard DataSource and checks showed that no changes had been made to the extract structure as suggested.
however, after further checks, it came to light that the DataSource table had a number of repeated columns which the BW extraction process didn't like in the comm structure.
when all the non-required columns were removed, the data load was successful.
by the way, i got the error when i tried to activate the transfer rules.
once again many thanks for your time and effort.
