I am trying to understand the BLOG /people/sap.india5/blog/2005/11/03/xi-software-logistics-1-sld-preparation

In this blog the Author says

Why not to create ?

As such Products and SWCVs can be created directly in target SLD instead of transporting from Source SLD. However its essential for SWCV to have identical GUID in both source and target SLD and the best of ensuring the same is export /import method.

I am completely lost, because when I create my SLD objects Manually in Target (QA System), how does I will get the SAME GUID? Or whats the purpose of the GUID?

    hi jenni,

The GUID repository manager is used system-internally to manage short IDs(Since you can only insert links with a maximum length of 256 characters to documents). If an application launches a short ID, the GUID repository manager automatically provides a link to the associated object.

In the article, it says that the both should be identical ( not the same).

and do make it true we use import/export method.
