Hi All,

We are upgrading NW7.4 to NW7.5 where SAP TM version is also getting upgraded from Source: SAPTM 130 SP4 to Target: SAPTM 150 SP 3.

We are in Execution and stuck in phase: MAIN_NEWBAS/XPRAS_AIMMRG, where XPRA reports are running and report /SCMTMS/XPRA_140_DO_REFACTOR is running for too long as it has been 40 hours now. Log files are not updating from the same time. So overall there is no error identified.

Batch job RDDEXECL is running for too long and not getting an end.

Need an expert advise on this issue.

Thank you in advance!

Best Regards,

Amaresh

40 hours is indeed long. I would first perform a "Check Status" for the background job in Tx SM37 and see if it changes the status of the job. If there are multiple App servers involved then you need to make sure that the job runs in the App server which is active. Call Tx SM50 and double click on the background work process and check what information it provides there.

Check if note 1947874 - Performance analysis for XPRAS_AIMMRG phase helps or not.

Is there any activity in SM50? Maybe the job failed but the job status is still as running? Sometimes this happens...

Let us know what can you see in SM50 and then we will think about next steps.

Anything in dev_** log files? SM21?

Hi Bartosz,

There is no activity in SM50 or in SM21.

This job "RDDEXECL" has only log as :

Logs:

Job started Step 001 started (program RDDEXECL, variant , user ID DDIC)

All DB buffers of application server sapf6zv were synchronized

And this job "RDDIMPDP" is running every 1 minute with the below logs:

Logs:

Job started Step 001 started (program RDDIMPDP, variant , user ID DDIC)

Program RDDIMPDP is running in client 000

Header R: TRBAT indicates job 04533000 is still running; checking job status..

Header R: Job 04533000 is still running

Header R: TRBAT indicates job 04533100 is still running; checking job status..

Header R: Job 04533100 has already ended

Header R: TRBAT indicates job 04533101 is still running; checking job status..

There is nothing more relevant in work process log in dev_w29:

the below are few last lines from the log file:

Thanks for the detialed information.

I have found a SAP Note:

2329799 - Better performance for XPRA /SCMTMS/XPRA_140_DO_REFACTOR

There is written that the XPRA_140_DO_REFACTOR can take a long time. So I think I'd wait.

If that's a non production system (and you have the backup!) you can also do the instance restart. SUM will ask you if you want to continiue process.

In case this is production I think it's good to open a ticket with SAP.

Hi Bartosz,

Thanks for your comments. The SAP note 2329799 is not applicable or it is already part of SAP TM 7.4.

However the upgrade had run for a very longer duration (90+ hours) as we left it running and finished successfully.

we have opened an incident with SAP for a solution for our production server upgrade.

Regards.
